Commonwealth Properties, Inc.

Commonwealth was originally started by C. F. Sandy Pofahl as Commonwealth Development Company in 1969 with 40 homes in Northeast Dallas. After acquiring its first lots, the company subsequently developed its own properties. During the past ten years Commonwealth has completed a number of retail projects and two residential land developments.

 

Plaza de Las Américas is the largest of the retail centers and will be the proto type for additional shopping, cultural, and educational Plaza de Las Américas centers in major Latino populations in the future.

Townhome Developments

In addition to the single family detached, Commonwealth developed and built three townhome properties in Garland, Mesquite, and Tulsa. These townhomes sold well and were of an advanced design in each location. The following is a summary of Commonwealth's townhome subdivisions:

Multi-family Complexes

Commonwealth designed and built two multi-family projects in Plano and the Oaklawn area of Dallas. Each were constructed within budget and on time and leased up within 6 months. The Plano "Stone Pony Apartments" was an FHA insured 221d4 complex and the "Tapestry Apartments" was conventionally financed:
